Gaffer on target with 5

Excellent performance by all last night, a 6-0 win over CIBC. The advantage of having a full team showed with fresh legs available at every position.

For those that missed it, the crowd were thrilled with a combination of superb passing, solid defending and clinical finishing.

Wayne was a rock in goal getting the clean sheet with an unforgiving defense of Steve Roughead, Ray, Darren and Matt cleaning things up at the back. Tireless running and solid tackling by Steve Gaffin, Chris, Des and Joe secured the midfield battle with Jess and the Gaffer leading the assault up front.

The goals flowed evenly throughout with us up 3-0 at half-time - the gaffer with a hat-trick. However, the highlight of the game came in the second half on the 5th goal - a 20 yard strike by Stevie Roughead into the top corner, leaving the keeper speechless. One report concluded "The goal was only matched by the celebrations, the watching masses were left in no doubt as to who had dispatched the ball into the goal beyond the bewildered keeper, well worth the entry fee alone."

Inspired on by the addition of a new Captain's armband from Jess, the Gaffer got another 2, capping of a 5 goal performance, with the now infamous "Buddha Belly" making several appearances. Cheers to the team for making the Gaffer the top scorer in the league on 19. A good striker is only as good as the players behind him!
