Gaffing brace keeps OBs rolling

Well, did the business in the end boys! Despite a poor, poor evening from the ref we got another good win, 6-1. Thrilling for the spectator in the stands - 5 players scored with 2 breaking their ducks! All quality goals coming from good passing moves.

A unnerving start saw us actually to go 1-0 down to a team that was going to forfeit until a player showed up at kick-off time. We hurried the ball a bit and really didn't get into our rhythm allowing them to stay ahead, 'til Steve"Shearer" Gaffin got on the score sheet for the first time this season, unleashing a shot to tie it up. It remained 1-1 at half-time and for 10 minutes into the second half. They played surprisingly well and kept at least 1 if not 2 men back at all times negating our usually potent counter-attack.

With Wayne diving all over the place for some spectacular saves and Ray, Steve Roughead and Dominic keeping things solid at the back, it was ensured nothing more than the early, lucky goal would cross the line. As usual Ian, Joe and Steve G in midfield kept things in order with solid tackling and great distribution to the strikers, Des and the Gaffer. the score could have been many more had it not been for so woeful finishing with many strikes hit straight at the keeper - the gaffer being the main culprit spurning several good chances.

Eventually though, our superiority in the game showed with the go-ahead goal, the gaffer's 20th of the season, coming with about 15 mins to go. The goals then flowed with Joe peppering the back of the net for his 4th of the season followed by a strong run and blistering shot by Dominic, his 2nd of the season.. "Shearer" Gaffin then doubled his season tally with another quality strike.

Des had an unfortunately frustrating evening, and when he missed a 1 on 1 with the keeper he must have thought the monkey would never get off his back. But with 30 secs to go, he broke his curse and scored his first of the season with a thundering drive.
