All even with Andro
MATCH REPORT BY RAY ROGERS
The team returned to action on Tuesday after a brief Hiatus (wearing the Red strip with white accents, which personally I must say is proving to be a little unlucky) earning a disappointing draw against a well organized Andro team.
With a solid start an assortment of shots peppered the immediate vicinity surrounding the Andro goal with the key word here being vicinity, until a well struck shot from Joe Chiazza destined for the top corner was acrobatically parried away by the Andro keeper. This seemed to be the signal for shots to finally find there mark and this produced a number of good saves from the oppositions keeper. The pressure continued through the first half with again solid defense from Ian Stevie R, Dom and Ray with the defense rarely looked stretched
Tireless running from our Midfield, of Joe, Darren, Matt, Inky, Stevie G and Daniel added to Des and Tim proving a handful for the opposition defense, with Andro’s keeper was far busier than Wayne in the Old Boys net.
The second half started much like the first but with the Andro midfield playing higher up the floor, space was to be found in behind their midfield and in front of their defense which finally exploited leading to the breakthrough for Tim who, after working hard against both defenders was rewarded with a goal from a difficult angle coming out from the corner. .
However fate would rear her ugly head, and a few minutes later as a result of a free kick deep in the Old Boys half, Andro equalized with a shot from the edge of the box.
With our cavalier never say die attitude Old Boys went looking for the winner and even with a series of dubious refereeing calls causing the boys in red to play shorthanded and forcing some stout defending for a brief time with two players in the box, we continued to push for an eventual winner, however on this night it was not to be with both side settling for a point . |
